Idiot lights on, guages not working

Idiot lights on, guages not working

2001, automatic trans. All the idiot lights come on and none of the guages are working. odometer reads no buss. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That can be caused by a module starting to fail, or a connection that just has enough resistance to mess around with the bus voltages. I would suspect that if the modules saw a really low voltage momentatily, even during cranking, that it could cause this. I would start by unplugging the cluster and spraying the terminals with electronic cleaner, then blowing them dry with compressed air and reseating them. Then do a 10 minute battery disconnect and see if it makes a difference.
