I Think ? See What You Think. A/C Issue
I thinks it's the blend door actuator down by the hump on the passenger side. When I turn on the A/C it seems to be turning continuously round and round, would this be my issue or should it stop at some point. I've got a 2002, A/C blows ice cold then outside warm for approx. 5 seconds, long enough for me to hear a door pop either open or close. The A/C will blow cold for about 1 minute, then blow what feels to be outside warm for about 5 seconds. It dosen't matter if I'm driving 75 mph or setting still at idle, everytime it happens I can hear what seems to be a door pop. Compressor is working, big line is cold and dryer is cold. I'm no A/C man and I don't want to have to give up my first born to a shop to fix, if you know what I mean. Any ideas or thoughts would be appriciated.
If you can physically see the linkage turning around, it sure sounds like the problem. Either something has broken in the actuator, or the door is broken inside the HVAC housing. The next step would be removing the actuator to inspect it, and work the door manually with your hand, to see if it works smoothly, with a defined stop at each end of its travel.
On my truck when I was replacing the evap core and heater core this past weekend, the black plastic piece on the bottom of the blend door cracked into a couple of pieces. It's some what rectangular and it's where mounts into the actuator. I glued it togather the best I could I hope it's holding up, can't tell if it's working or not.
