High/Low beams not working ???
High/Low beams not working ???
I recently got a 01 quad cab 4X4. I've fixed most things, but the headlights are driving me nuts.
I believe I have high beams only and someone has cranked the headlights down so other drivers aren't blinded. Switching from high to low beams the high beam indicator dims and comes back bright. The indicator is always light. On high beam one of the elements in the headlight bulb is lit. When on low beam the element that was lit gets very dim and the second element actually lites up, but only a little. (I looked at through a welding helmet)
So indicator is always lit. High beam, one element in bulb lit. Low beam, both elements lit dimmly, not bright enough to be safe to drive.
Any ideas? I've done searches. . ... I don't have day time running lights and I swapped the column switch out from another truck .. . NO change.
Is there an external relay somewhere that controls this. On dim setting, it seams like there is a grounding problem... . but if this is thru a relay, where is the relay located?

I had that same exact problem. It turned out to be a wire that had been pulled out of the wiring harness from the turn signal switch. Looks like the factory did not make that wire long enough for the tilt wheel to go all the way up without pulling the wire.
