Help for towing horse trailer w/ LQ
Jim
My truck came with a set of Firestone Airlift bags including the on-board compressor and in-cab guage with controll. Although I only have a 1600 pound slide in camper - and I tow a Jeep on a car trailer the airbags really work well and keep my truck sitting level and riding nice with the load.
I installed a set of Ride Rite bags with a compressor and guage in my last truck - a 98 GMC k1500 to haul the same camper and Jeep setup and they worked awesome. I bought this setup on Craigslist for $150 and installed it in one night. The kit I bought was actually for a Tahoe so I had to build a little spacer because the bag was slightly shorter -but it all worked out well and I know the guy that bought that truck from me a year ago and he is still driving it and towing without issue.
If you go with the airbags I really like the in-cab controller and on-board compressor for on the fly adjustments so you can tweak your ride while driving. It is amazing how much the psi affects the ride of the rig so it is really nice to be able to make changes as you go instead of having to get out and hook up to an air compressor or let air out every time you want to make adjustments. Good luck!
