Headlights wont turn on or they go off by themselves?
My truck has day time running lights and I was wondering if that had anything to do with this problem..It took about 20 minutes tonight before the lights would come on, the day time running lights work but i cant get the low beam or high beams to work.

2001 quad cab short box

Jason

My guess would be the notorious headlight switch burnout. However, I am not certain whether the newer trucks had the upgraded switch or not.
george

The other night I start truck, turn on headlights - nothing! I carry extra bulbs, so almost started to change, figuring it'd blown yet another set. Nope, bulbs were good. Click on the high beams, they work fine - just no low beams. Start looking around for some wire to bypass the switch, when I hear a click and the low beams come on - all of a sudden. Has not repeated since, but carrying extra wire with me now. Soon to bypass all w/HD relay, before something quits permanently. Thought it was headlight switch, but mine may be hi/lo switch problem too.

Good luck,
-Scott

Try and play with your low beem/high beem switch when your lights act up. The switch in mine went bad, but a little jiggle would get them to turn back on.

Alright. after I got my truck running again after the lift pump went for a ...well you know I thought I would have a look at the high low beam switch on my truck as it seems to be the problem. Once I got the unit off I noticed that the wires in the back of that plug had been pulled on by the tilting of the wheel and had managed to break two of them right off!!! I took the plug apart and soldered new wires on to the terminal connectors and the problem is gone.

Just a word to anyone who uses the tilt steering wheel alot this could melt the wiring harness if left for any length of time...

Good Luck

Jason
