Headlights suddenly went out

the upgrade switch is supposed to handle the amperage better than the oem switch.

Let us know how this works out. I replaced my dash switch about 40,000 miles ago to a new one with the fog light option. But lately, not always, if I flip from low to high and then back down, the highs stay on. I have to turn off the lights via the dash switch, then turn them back on for the low beams to be on and not the high with them.
To me, this seems like it's the high-low switch on the column. I hardly ever run with my dash lights dimmed since I knew about the bad switch years ago. But I did hear of someone else this year sometime talk about a bad high-low switch... so I'm just curious about the solution to this issue.

I just replaced the multi-function switch. It took about half an hour, not a big deal. Unfortunately I had to get the part from the ***********.

Follow up, problem resolved. I threw a part at it, a new switch from Rock Auto, 25.00 including shipping, felt like a simple gamble. Got lucky, it paid off. The part # is AC Delco C1524, or GM#88924264. It is only the switch. You have to transfer the ****, plastic and metal backing, along with the push-pull rod. Easy fix.
Now I just noticed my temp gauge is not registering the proper temp, won't go above 140 . Always something new, the truck never is short of surprises. Ideas?

Yeah, I thought of that as I was driving. Quite possibly the worst location of any part on the engine, in the back behind the head, and no way to access it that I know of. Before I deal with that, I will start with easier possibilities.

Thanks! And congrats on getting it taken care of!
