Headlights go on and off on their own

I am having a problem with my headlights. When I switch them on and move the steering wheel up and down they go on and off. This happens with the high or low beams. My truck has daytime running lights and these are not affected. Almost seems there is a loose connection with the power wire from the headlight switch to the high low switch in the column. Any ideas how to dismantle my column for a look-see without causing problems with the air bag?

Truck is a 2000 quadcab short box auto 4X4

This is a quite common problem, seems Dodge got cheap and only gave enough wire to barely make it to the switches in the steering wheel area. Sometimes a wire pulls out of the connector, other times the entire connector pulls apart.
Just remove the steering column cover to see what's going on.
It requires a torx screwdriver from the bottom to remove two screws. Don't know the size offhand but a driver with a removable tip is too fat to fit up in the holes where the screws are located.
You will have no air bag worries.
