headlights flickering

every once in a while the lights on my 97 will switch on and off real fast. anyone had this problem before. im thinking it might just be the switch but i figured i might as well ask to see if there is anything else that gave other people problems

Do they dim, or actually turn on and off?

If they dim, then it is probably the Cummins heater grid.

If they turn on and off, it is an intermittent connection. Check all of your connections for corrosion and proper installation, including the headlight switch. It may be something as simple as a loose connector, ground wire or power wire. Then again, it might be the headlight switch...

I had that happen but it was on a 4Runner, cleaned the multi-function switch w/electronic cleaner and it went away.

Replaced the head light switch on mine and that fixed it for a while. Now that it is nice I was going to just disconnect the grin heaters and see if that affects them at all.

I went one step further and wired all the running lights on my dually to a relay with a fused power 12V feed that is triggered by the headlight switch.
Takes the load of all those lights off of the headlight switch.

I also added a Normally Closed momentary contact switch to the trigger wire so I can "wink" the running lights at night.
