Guages not working!

One of my co-workers has a 2001 2500 24v and she told me this morning that she was driving down the highway and all of her guages quit working - speedometer, oil pressure, etc. The check engine light is working. She recently had to replace the oil pressure sending unit, and it has been working fine until now. She had someone she knows at a parts store to check the fuses and they're all OK. He says it's either the "computer or something in the dash". Anyone had this problem before or have an idea on what it could be?

Thanks,

CR

mine has done the same about 6 times so far. every time, it throws a code for main power bus interruption.

So, I would start looking at the main wiring connections on the power distribution center, and work out from there. I am pretty sure that was the problem, as I checked the connections on mine, cleaned everything I could find, and put it back together, its been over two years since it happened. This truck is an 01, so its not a super isolated problem.

Good Luck, and may the schwartz be with you

I had this problem a couple of times on my 99. It finally stopped when one of the mechanic's at my dealer checked the nuts in the fuse box (he snug tightened them) and also made sure that the battery posts were tight. Before we knew it was fixed, the Service Writer scared the crap out of me when he told me that if it didn't get fixed, that they'd have to replace my dash panel and that the truck would have to stay there - maybe up to 2 weeks - reason being is that when the dash panel doesn't work right, the odometer doesn't work and in Calif it's illegal to drive with a disconnected odometer.
