Question Ghostly elec. prob.

Yesterday, my wipers started coming on with my left turn signal. They would also stay on for a few sec. after turning the signal off, like the windshield wash delay. No right signal action.

Today had the same results w/ the left signal, also, now only one horn works, and the left turn signal dash light stays on as long as the horn is pushed, as well as the wiper action.

Hazard lights also trigger the wipers.

This evening, the wipers started coming on all by them selves while driving.

The windshield washing deal works just fine with no other signs of anything else being triggered. The wipers also work like normal when turned on.

Checked all fuses and other things that might be obvious, but not knowing what too look for doesnt help. Anybody know what to look for or had the same problems?

Thanks in advance -Jake

Had something similar happen to me on an 88 Blazer. Foot on brake, the dome light comes on....turn signal on, the rear defrost indicator would flash....etc, etc.

Ended up being a main body wiring harness runs under your heel when your foot is on the gas pedal. Over the years, the dirt and crud worked down into the harness and chewed thru it. All the circuits ended up back feeding into something else. Sounds to me like you have a harness somewhere that is doing something very similar.

Hope it at least gives you an idea!

What exactly is and were is this switch? Is it bad? Shorting out? Why does the horn trigger the other items associated with the switch? Thanks -Jake

You need to pull the cover off the top of the steering column right at the steering wheel and confirm that no wires are broken and that all the wires are still in the plug. This plug is located on the left side right where the turn signal enters the column. If you find that that is all good then it is possible there is a short in the turn signal control. A quick trip to the wreckers for a used one will confirm this.

Let us know what you find out.

P.S I had broken wires in mine from using the tilt everytime I get in and out of the truck because of my long gangly legs!!
