fuel sending unit pre-filter
fuel sending unit pre-filter
Does anyone have a pre-filter that snaps onto the bottom of the fuel module that i can buy? The previous owner had replaced the fuel level kit, and ruined the pre filter. Dodge dealer said it is not a serviceable part, and wants $465.00 for the whole shebang. If anyone has an extra filter for sale, it would help alot. Thanks

the mesh that is in it, is a super fine mesh, i don't think stainless mesh comes tight enough to work, i will try the pre 97 deal tomorrow, as i have everything ready to go, just waiting to see what i can do with this filter. I will also look into other options as i really need this thing going by this weekend.

No, it snaps onto the bottom of the fuel module inside the tank. But if the pre 97' filter does not fit, i will go with an inline filter before the lift pump, like the one you have pictured. I am also making a stainless steel float to replace the black foam one that gets eat'n by the fuel.
I will find out tomorrow if this plan all comes together.

Truck is all back together now. I had to reuse the torn filter, as the '97 and earlier was no where near going to be able to use. I can post a pic later if it helps. Alittle hint to those that half to do it. When screwing the big nut back on, ther is a little green mark on it. Line that up with the arrow on the top of the module, and two dots on tank. That was where it had to be to get the threads to start correctly. Mine at least had a green line mrked on it. I poured the rest of the fuel i had through a paint strainer, into a kerosene can that had a super fine mesh in the nozzle. That way i got all the little black dirt from the float cleaned out. Good luck to those who do it, it is not fun, like another post has stated.
Glad to see it worked for you. My screen was still good and it is really, REALLY fine. I had about 2 liters of fuel inside it and it would not drain out through that screen. Bizarre... but yet not all that unusual. Nothing on this truck amazes me any more...
