Most guys here are of the opinion that the proper place for an isolator is in the trash can. Isolators have a high tendency to fail, and they are a pain to install and bleed out. So if you want the most accurate, reliable fuel gauge don't use an isolator. However, there are those that really don't want fuel in the cab, so they do use the isolator.

You can run the SS line if you like, I used a preformed, high pressure rubber line from the pump to the fender, then from the fender to the gauge I ran 1/8 copper tubbing. You can also use the 1/8 plastic tubbing that came with the gauge, I just don't like it because it kinks too easily. Good luck.

I installed three isolators on friend's Dodges. It was a pain in the rear to get them hooked up and bled because of the mounting location. One of them failed a few months after installation and stopped supplying an accurate pressure reading. I converted that one and another to run diesel to the gauge with a ball valve. This way the pump pulses don't cause the gauge to rattle. I installed the line to my gauge in the 90* elbow coming out of the IP side of the fuel filter with a needle valve and 1/8" Parker tubing. So, to answer your question. Sure, you can run stainless line to the gauge, but it will be hard to get up the A pillar. I would suggest the Parker tubing that came with your kit, but if you want a little more protection from chaffing you can use the copper line. I you do run diesel to the gauge I would advise the use of a needle or ball valve to protect the gauge. Good luck
