Went to wash the truck this morning and found a 2 foot long crack in my front windshield. It starts at the top and worked its way down and across from the drivers side. It wasn't cracked last night when I parked my truck. There is no evidence of a chip or any damage. I'm a bit mad about it. I dunno how it cracked. I got a quate this morning at the glass shop that did my window tint and they want $169 installed. Does that sound like a fair price for new glass?
Make sure they use OEM Glass, and not China junk. I worked for Novus Auto Glass and replaced a lot of China junk that leaked and was a slam job. Gardian Glass is very good OEM glass, thick glass thats heavy, do your home work and look for yourself in thickness. Trust me you pay for what you get when you buy cheaper glass. Ask them if they scrap all the old urethane off, and use pinch weld primer before they set the new glass in. If they dont scrape the old urethane off and prime it, you will have a leak within a year and then rust, I've seen this first hand. Good luck

PPG glass is used by oem also & is super..aftermarket glass can be trash.I have seen spots and de-formeties, when you look at a slight angle with cheap aftermarkets. the produts that comes from china is really junk in all/most cases.

I think the company I got the quote from uses PPG glass but I will double check. Thanks for warning me about the glass from china.

I've had a crack in my front window since about 4 months into owning my truck. It's been there for almost 4 years. Doesn't bother me and the Law Man doesnt notice it where it is. Heck, nobody really noticed it until this summer. Maybe time to get fixed when I get home from this rotation.

Just had mine repalced last week $160 plus $30 for the moulding. Usually need to do them every couple years up here since they use gravel in the winter and not sand. Mine had 4 cracks in it and a bunch of chips. It's kinda fun when you can chase a crack as it forms by pushing on the glass in front of it

Price sounds good, I think i ended up forking out around $250 for mine.
It had a chip, and a few winters ago, I was letting it warm up with the defrosters on to melt the ice, the cold to hot cracked it almost immediately.
Only good thing about getting your windsheild swapped out, is if your around when they do it, you can get in and clean out those hard to reach vents when the glass is out.

234.00 installed including tax (regular price)
glass cost (lof or ppg is 114$)
molding cost 34$
urethane cost 6$
labor to install cost 40$
tax 14$
leaves profit of 26$
i would venture to say the 169$ price is China or Mexico (both are junk)

The glass shop that quoted me uses only OEM glass from PPG or mopar for dodge vehicles. I made sure to ask about what kinda they use.
