Front Caliper Pin Grease Proceedure

For what ever reason I am having a heck of a time with the caliper pins on my "99". Now I have always had to grease them up with the blue synthetic caliper grease so they don't hang up, and so they slide as the brakes wear. I just replaced the rubber bushings and regreased the pins like usual about 1,000 miles ago. Today, when I replaced the rotors I had to drive the pins out with a freakin hammer! They were froze! What is going on?

How do you guys grease the caliper pins? What do you use? Be specific!

Sounds like the grease dried out. Perhaps your pads were dragging due to bad caliper pistons not retracting, heating up and cooking the grease.
I've never used blue grease, only black Silglide from Napa, if it makes any difference.

I've never heard of any blue grease but I've always used Never-sieze on all my sliders and all over my sprint car. Never have a problem. Grease seems to trap more debris and harden up.

I use Silglide for brakes as well. The stuff I use is clear though. It's just silicon lube. That's what we used in the shop, and I started using it at home as well.

I've used never seize on my pins. That said, I haven't had them off since. Like you, mine were seized in pretty good. Pounded them out, took some emory and cleaned them up.

Could have been that they were heating up. I'm gonna replace the calipers with blue printed ones and & use Silglide. The money I saved by using doing the rotors myself I can put into good brake parts.

I never used any kind of grease. I usually polish up real good with emery cloth, then cover with a dry lube like graffite. Never a problem,wear even inside and out.
