Found another truck-need advice
It might be a good to check kelly blue book site to get a good idea of the price for a truck in that condition with those options and miles. But one thing for sure, no matter whats said here you are the one that has to be happy with the truck.
I would imagine..
the blue book is great, heck do it online at MSN, it will help you get some more leverage.. Im curious, new pumps? i dont quite understand that.. I agree with no one on truck issues here in south texas, it all depends where you get it from, some people, REALLY use their trucks, if you can find one without a gooseneck hitch CONGRATULATIONS!! you pretty much found a virginal truck! and its probably a keeper, i have a gooseneck hitch and if you are associated with south texas, someone you know or you yourself usually use or pull a gooseneck at some point in time.. You even see those hitches on poor half tons. True also what Dr. Evil says, alot of wanna be cowboys drive those big trucks, then somehow have to trade them in, sell them, or lose them.. i see it to often, im just glad that my 96 is paid for in full.. so im happy and it more than serves my needs. Mind you, on another note, pumps are expensive and not routine maintainance, i would be concerned, and also as to what warranty they have on them now? Tires, batteries, and clutch... well its wear and tear such as everything else on your truck is.. i dont think it should accumulate it in value, that should just be written off as a nessesary expense.. I would also check or ask when was the last time the coolant was changed? just curious on that.. Transmission work? clutch? fluids on those parts? those more often than not get ignored? 4x4 check and maintainance? transfer case? i KNOW its alot to ask.. but its those unsung and unseen forsaken parts that can cause trouble... pumps, and maintainance have me questioning, my 96 was and is well known from my uncle ever since it has 3 miles on its odometer, and i cannot complain I have all records. i got gold... and very lucky

17500 is a great price. I would not say this is too high, maybe a bit too low.
My 2001 2WD HO 6spd Long bed SLT was 15K with 160K miles. This is 1 year newer, 10K less miles and 4X4 AND dually for 2500$ more. Sounds good to me. I feel like I paid a fair price. It is a TEXAS TRUCK for sure... welded in gooseneck hitch, 2WD, rear mudders and horse crap all over the underside of the bed and rear fenders
At least it isn't rusted...
There are a lot of things on this truck that are going to take a lickin and keep on ticking... The motor, trans, differential, t-case are very stout items. Change the fluids, adjust the valves on the motor and go. Chances are the fuel pressure is probably at 0 but put a new one in and keep driving. With all that being said you should still take a good look at the vehicle.

Get it, 18,500 is low for 02 model HO 4x4. can't beat the peace of mind with 2 new pumps. 150k is nothing to these engines. I would fully service all fluids & filters after delivery though. Just so you know whats in there for more peace of mind. sounds like cold start symptom will be remedied with pump replacement.
