Foam seal source for HVAC box rebuild
Foam seal source for HVAC box rebuild
I just finished rebuilding the HVAC box in my '02 and was less than satisfied with the weatherstripping foam adhesive tapes sourced at the hardware store. Even after cleaning the various surfaces with acetone before application, the stuff just doesn't stick well. I ended up reusing most of the original foam seals by reapplying them with spray adhesive. Not sure how well it will hold up.
Anyone have better luck with other materials? Or use the OEM seals?

I used stuff I got at an AC&R supply house. They had some nice soft closed cell stuff that glued on well and came in 1/8" sheet form.
I found it when I was redoing the heater box on my 90 Jeep YJ. It had a foam sheet over the vent door that was blowing black dandruff all over the place in its self destructing.
It seemed to work nicely as a coil wrap in the box too.
