Fasten Seat Belt Light

For some reason the fasten seat belt light comes on sometimes after I start to drive away and stays on. Took it to the dealer & of course it wouldn't stay on. Now it is. Can I disable it?

Re:Fasten Seat Belt Light

I believe in your truck there is a sensor in the buckle. This setup usually only has a driver's seat sensor. I would not try to bypass this because it is also hooked to the driver's front airbag sensor. Hence if the sensor doesn't think someone is in the seat, the airbag will not deploy.

It is still on this morning when I drove it. Anybody know what is involved in changing the sensor? I don't want to take it to the dealer & spend big bucks.

Do what I did

There is a connector under the Drivers seat with two wire and I cut the plug off leading to the seat not the one comeing through the floor and on the connector that I removed I cut and twisted the wires together and pluged it back in leaving the other wires tucked into the seat

After you plug it back in to the harness you will notice that the seat belt warning light is out it just thinks that you have the seatbelt hook.

I hope this helps and if you hate the light just do it you will thank me later.

It has no bearing on the AIR BAG System

Re:Fasten Seat Belt Light

I ate at Carl's Jr. Saturday night. Woke up Sunday morning with what felt like the flu. > My girlfriend had the same thing & she was worse that I was. The kids had something else & they were fine. Anyway, I didn't even go outside. Laid in bed, tossing & turning, acheing joints & very weak. I will try it tomorrow.

Re:Fasten Seat Belt Light

I was browsing through old topics, noticed this one. My light has been on for a long time, at first it drove me but I forgot it's been on for the last 15000 miles. I went to cut and reconnect wires like suggested and found a three wires (black, orange, and green with orange stripe i think). These three wires are in a loom and appear to enter the seat right around the buckle. Question, has anyone else found this and if so which wires do I cut and splice? thanks in advance, andy
