Re:factory fog light replacements?

If you want to spend the money, I've heard lots of recommendations for the PIAA 510's (I think that's the right model). I'm not positive they will fit the Ram, because when I was shopping, it was for my Dakota, but I don't imagine the mouting hole dimensions are all that different. I believe they are also available in either fog (wide) or driving (narrow) beam patters, the driving may be more of what you are looking for.

FWIW, I didn't spring for the high dollar PIAAs. I bought a $40 set of Pilots from Wal-Mart. My only complaint with those is that the glass has a blue tint to it, which sticks out like a sore thumb on a green truck. But other than that, I can't really complain for $40. They worked, and they were brighter than the factory lights.

Hope this helps.

i had the PIAA 510's in a driving light. excelent light better than the high beams. they have a mounting kit you can get to bolt them in. Like was stated they are pricey at about $150 to $200. A lesser expensive alternative is GROTEX I belive is how its spelled they are made by Hella for about $70.

Dan

http://lighting.mbz.org/products/products.html

I replaced the factory plastic 15watt "fog" lights on my sport with a real nice set of hellig 4" 55 Watt glass real quality driving lights from Daniel Stern Lighting!

The link above they were a perfect fit in my truck. I did redo all the wiring and added a relay so I can put them on when the high beams are on as well. Talk about bright. WOW. Great setup. Just email him and tell him what you need he can get it.

Were you able to use the PIAAs in regular driving situations? Or were people flashing their brites at you because the PIAAs were blinding them? People would flash me even with the factory fogs, but a driving light with a more forward beam pattern, rather than to the sides, might be different? Just curious.
