Exhaust

Hello I am the owner of a 99 24 valve Cummings...
I've decided to go ahead with a 5" MBRP exhaust...

I heard that I would need a tip to add on to this, also Heard that certain tips make different sounds...

My question is.... Is their a site where I can listen to the tips for this exhaust on a 99 Cummings so I can figure out which one I like ????

thanks

The pipe diameter and what is ahead of it is what will dictate your sound, unless you get a pinched down tip or something.

Injectors, turbo size make a difference.

Going with a performance 5 inch exhaust will give you plenty of exhaust capacity for upper end performance parts.

In my opinion, the tip isn't going to make much, if any, difference in tone...

Put the savings into a boost fooler or something....

assuming you have the tail pipe exiting in a traditional direction, People that route the tail/Tip downward towards the deck and depending if a vehicle is 2wd or 4wd or with a lift this can change the exhaust sound because it will be bouncing off the ground. I have in past thought of chopping my tail piece down and re welding the end so its faced somewhat downward since i have a lift. right now my exhaust is about the height of most compact cars door handle.. really loud especially when other cars have the window down.. So i try some smoke control.

I painted my entire exhaust black so i never put a tip on since i liked the look and have no chrome on the truck.
