emergency brakes
whenever i adjust my e brake so that it works i get a squealing noise from the rear of the truck for about 2 months and then it will fade as does the effectiveness of the brakes until they don't work at all. Has any one else had this problem. Is it a return spring for the shoes and can i get a stronger one.
How are you adjusting your e-brake? Tightening the nut on the cable is not the correct method, that is only to adjust the slack out of the cables. The correct method is to jack up the rear of the truck, support with jackstands and spin the star nuts on the adjustment spreaders while turning the tire. When you feel dragging on the tire back off one or two clicks. Turn DOWN to tighten on the passenger side, UP for the drivers side. Kurt
