electromagnetic pulse

If My 2001 3/4 Ton 24valve Diesel Were Disabled From An Electromagnetic Pulse What Parts Would I Have To Replace And How Would I Store Them.

Get a 1st or 2nd gen. truck and store that .
Put an external alt. regulator in after the pulse .

Although the electric field created from an EMP lasts for only a short time, its effects can be devastating. It is predicted that a single high altitude burst 200 miles above Kansas could propagate an EMP enveloping the entire United States. Electrical systems connected to things that can conduct current like wires, antennas, and metal objects will suffer significant damage. EMP effects on electronics include interference of radio frequency links, irreparable damage to microcircuits, and even the disabling of satellites. Fortunately, electronic equipment that is turned off is less likely to be damaged.

When are you expecting the blast? I guess if you keep your trucked parked with the batteries disconnected you will be safe.

Its not such a crazy question, recent events have me thinking along those lines again.......

For a second gen, spare PCM and of course, a P-Pump conversion........

Best tactic is to put your head between your legs and kiss your azz goodbye.

Nope, best tactic is to live far away from the big cities and find yourself an old 4BT rotary pump Cummins and a suitable OLD Chevy truck, combine them and you have a virtual Mountain goat that will run without electronics at all......

ECM at the least. You cannot store it safely according to the posts I have read here.

Anything solid state that benefits from software will probably have serious failure. Re-arranging just a little bit of software causes a big problem.

Fuel stations will be all dead. Power stations will be dead. Having a live truck would help; I think even a turned off truck can be damaged by induced currents. A 12v truck with spare a solenoid is the best bet I think.

Anything with a circuit board can be damaged by EMP or even a small tick of static electricity can short out an entire computer.
