Electrical Help

Ok, Im stumped with this one....

Recently Dad had an mirror break on his '02. He has the factory towing non power. Decided he wanted to upgrade to the Kool Vue power mirrors. Ordered them up and ordered a mirror switch also. His truck was a Laramie and had the harness in place for the power mirrors so I figured it would be a plug and play deal.

Here is where the poop fest begins. Installed the KoolVues. Install was easy and straighforward. The wiring harness was connected, but because we went home on the 4th, his truck sat over the weekend. Got back Monday and the switch had came in. Installed it and it did not work. Figured got taken buy what was claimed to be a working switch off of fleabay. (New dealer switches on national backorder).

Now it deepens. Dad gets in his truck to go to work, the interior lights are not working. Neither is the radio. The overhead displays functions but is acting really weird. If you reset the trip milage it will function, but the minute you turn off the ignition, and then turn it back on again, regardless of the miles traveled, it displays 217 miles. Check all the fuses, in dash and underhood, non were bad.

Unplugged the mirror switch and the mirrors, no change. Rechecked the fuses, none bad. Disconnected the batteries for 30 mins, no change.

As far as we can tell, all other systems are working, a/c, gauge cluster, seats etc.

Anyone have any clue what is going on here.

Thanks in advance

Blake

Check the IOD fuse (Ignition Off Draw). Should be #12 in the panel on the side of the dash. It'll be in a black holder gizmo.....can't really tell if the fuse is blown just by looking......
This happens all the time when replacing stereos, mirrors, etc.
