I had a similar problem...Mine, was the worm gear was twisted..I tried fixing it but it didn't work...Landed up going to scrap yard and found another power seat...I stripped of my cushion of my old frame and installed the scrap yard frame...That one worked ok..

Just how big a boy are ya?
Seriously, it could be the motor, or the gears. (or both). Just have to check it out to be sure.
Your seat will have three motors under it. And they are replaceable without having to buy a whole seat track assembly.
98-02 quad cab: All motors the same.
94-02 (and even later) regular cab and extend cab trucks use different motors than quad cab trucks. They will not intechange with quad cab seat motors.
AND, you'll need to be sure to get a "vertical" use motor instead of a "horizontal".

Not sure, but, it'd sure be alot easier with the seat out. It's how I've always removed them.

You can replace the individual motors if you prefer with new units. I have attached a link for your review.
