Hi All,

my drivers side door when closed does not seal well from about the bottom of the window up to the top. It mates on the quad cab door. The qc door appers to be in the correct position in releation to the truck body, but the drivers side door top half need to be slanted in toward the truck. It obviously sticks out about 3/16 inch.

Its kinda noisy on the highway

Is there and easy adjustment for this?

You already checked the door hinge bolts and such? You may want to check your weather stripping also.

Here's what I've heard being done.

Apparantly, slamming the door closed, over time, gradually bends the top of the door outward ever so slightly.

Get yourself a 2x4 or similair chunk of wood.
Roll down the window on the offending door.
Close the door on the wood, with it about halfway down the door.
Push real hard on the top of the door.
Remove wood, close door and check fitment.
Repeat above steps as necessary.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

That's the way the bodyshop would reshape the door. BE WARNED- roll the window glass all the way down first or you'll break it first thing.

 

Phox & Ray hit it on the head, you should note however, check your door hinges first. A simple check is to watch the door as you open it....does it drop as soon as it falls off the striker bolt???? If it is doing this, you can....1.) shim the bottom hinge on the door between the door shell and the hinge.(washers will work) or 2.) Bend the door by jacking up on the bottom of it furthest away from the hinges. Try and do this with the door almost shut. #2 is really not the way I would fix it, but it can be done. The problem with #1 is that it might make the bottom rear and top front gaps in the opening appear tighter. The REAL problem would be your hinges.....replace them and you have the correct repair.

 

Just be careful with that "push really hard." I have seen the top half of the door buckle instead of just bending. Push gently and firmly.

 

I've seen a door hinge fix kit on ebay don't know much about it though I have heard of the kits work really well and are better then stock and oem

The hinges appear in good shape with no slop, and are tight. It is just the top, the slamming the door sceanario sounds like it might be the problem,

I will try the bending trick gently. I really dont like doing that, as sooner or later a crack might appear and it could be really loooose then

I will give it a try though.
