Anytime something under warranty checks out before the time or mileage allowed, DC looses money providing parts and labor.

Anytime something under warranty checks out after the time or mileage allowed, DC makes money selling parts and the labor.

It's that simple.

I would be willing to bet that behind closed doors, they are paying there engineers to design something that JUST makes it past the warranty period.

Doing this is a very good investment and job security.

I agree with this. I knew my dash would crack before I bought my 01'. I hoped that it wouldn't but it did.

All I can say is I love the cummins motor...thats why I bought the truck....The other Dodge I bought for my company fleet was nothing but a terrible money pit but I figured you get a lemon every now and then since we have purchased over 70 trucks since we went in business thats what happens.

I wouldnt even be talking about this problem except I keep seeing some people getting help from dc and others dont I dont get it......

From what I've heard about how Ford is helping out the PSD claims, you'll either be back to Dodge or on to GM in two years.

why dont you just buy a new dash...truck get wear and tear on them. our trucks shake like there is no tommorrow due to the cummins, its just the way it is though. now, you can buy a ford and have no power, bad mileage, and a crappy trans...or get a new dash

it wont matter what you drive it will have its own issues>I have a fleet of trucks and maintain many more from all three, (Ford ,Chevy ,Dodge)and everyone comes in with some sort of stupid design failure.none are perfect.and differant years have differant issues. The Cummins ,and 7.3 powerstrokes see the fewest down time . its all what you want to drive.!
I would rather change my Dash after a few years then constantly be doing engine repairs of some kind. hope your next truck gives you better service

166k and my cup holder is broke, I had to repair my coin and small parts holder(ash tray), my glove box barely works. My dash is cracked, my carpet is stained, the left front speaker just went out, the headliner came down, the visor material is coming off, my paint is getting bare spots, ohh, my bed is dented, hood liner came down, windshield washer fluid res. leaked (had to repair with fuel tank sealant), vacuum lines craked, injection pump is a pile of junk, lift pumps fail constantly, most window/door lock switches are broke or gone, sliding rear window won't open, cigarete lighter socket pushed through the plastic hole, door chimer and intermitten w/s timer are in the same little box, there's some sort of creak coming from around my steering box, track arm is shot (thanx Luke's Link!).
But I'm not complaining.....

This dude sounds like he never had a flat tire before....

Dodge doesn't suck, but a lot of the dealers do. Don't get angry at the product that a lot of hard working Americans/Mexicans assembled and then sent to the distributors. I have found that most the guys selling, repairing them at the dealers around these parts don't even own one! All three American products are good in various areas for certain people and applications. Just get a replacement dash and put it in and get over it. You'll find something wrong with your next rig regardless of what it is. Take it for what its worth. Kurt

Unfortunately that's very true, whether it's a Dodge, GM, Honda, drill, blender, or TV set these days. Nobody wants to make their product last forever.

I am more frustrated with the way that Diamler CHysler treats customers not so much the product, I just think everyone should be treated the same when it comes to warranty issues over a product made with inferier materials

They don't necessarily need to make money on the engine, just the truck that it's bolted into.

Let's face it, most of us bought the Dodge because of the Cummins, not the Cummins because of the Dodge.

its not just Dodge. I had an 2000 E350 van that all the doors warped so bad that you could put your arms through to the out side while driving through death vally CA, one summer . the a/c on the inside and 129* outside popped the skins off the doors because FORD uses glue now instead of spot welds!I was treated like I had abused the van and it took weeks of screeming at customer service and a lawer before it was fix. and that was more than the cost of a dash~!
