developed a Knock.. Need Help..

I own a 1999 24v diesel 4x4. I pull a 35' fifth wheel toybox. I was on my back from a desert riding trip and was pulling fine. I started up a long "not" steep incline. I was rolling along just fine till I pulled over for a break after the incline. All guages registered fine. I powered down my truck. When I powered it back up I noticed a slight knocking noise that got faster when I pressed the fuel throtle. I stopped at the nearest fuel station and checked fluid levels, all were fine. I continued to proceed home (another 350 miles) Not a single problem other than the noise. Made it home disconected the trailer and changed oil just because. The knock is still apparent with no real loss of power. By reading forums I think as an educated guess could be a valve issue or the dreaded #6 is scoured. Any insight? Thanks, a fellow puller.

Check the bolts on your fan blade. Mine came lose on their own one time and made a racket I was SURE was terminal engine failure for about 15 seconds.

(yes, trying to suggest the lame stuff)

Always check the cheap, easy, stuff first! Does it miss? Any codes?
TC bolts can cause a noise like that.
I think you can disconnect one wire at a time from the injectors, killing one cylinder at a time, to at least isolate the "bad" cylinder.

i'm sorry, I see now that you have a 24v. i dont think the ticking was a LP issue in the 24v.

fill out your signature, with year, cab style, 4x4 or not etc.
