My new dash was under $200 at the dealer. Took me and my two sons 4 hours to replace it. That included taking them for ice cream once the job was done. It's not that hard. I've allready posted for someone else what it took to replace it. There was no chance for a cap on mine. Too much of it was falling apart. Not much left to stick anything to. I've also heard that the carpet looks like a hair peice and the hard plastic cap never fits just right, especially as the dash is breaking up and becomes self deformed.

I just bought my new dash top from the dealer and paid $120. list was $160 he had it in stock.

I recall a while back seeing instructions for installing the new cap. Does anyone have directions for it?

Breakaway, the dealer said I had to order a NEW BEZEL to work with the new dASH cap. Any idea? Ive had the dealer say the same thing about other stuff Ive bought there

If you are referring to the " bezel " around the instrument cluster and radio/heat/ac contols, it is a removable/reusable piece. Mine has clips on the back similar to the ones on door panels. The only problem I recall with the bezel, was someone posted that they had broken theirs by taking it off several times. These are pretty good instructions.... https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=106921

I broke my bezel. But I had the bright idea I could just pull out the corner and tuck my Xm radio wires behind it. Made me mad. I had just replaced my dash. It looked so good and the wires we're driving me crazy. All you gotta do is carefully pull it ALL the way off. No tools, fingers only, take your time. it will pop right back on. Don't break yours. They cost about $80.

i recently bought the overlay cover and installed it..looks great. Its kinda nice not having the carpet mat on top. The color is a shade off but not real noticable. Im sure when the sun hits it it will turn and fade color. To the un-trained eye, you cant even tell! I think it was worth the money!!!!

CARR< Most everybody here have told you the skinnie on the top portion of your dash. My son and me replaced his at Xmas. ordered it in gray because grey was 190.00 out the door as opposed to 375.00 for the camel color we needed. Bought 3 cans of camel from dealer and painted to match looks priceless!!!
Increased the Esteem of the truck not to mention my Son's as well!!!! In the words of Larry the cable guy "Get r done"

installed my new dash in less than 2 hours!! GMCTD had a post describing the removal procees and I looed it over for 5-10 minutes before starting. I found it also helpful to fully remoive the bolt onthe pass side to facilitate dropping the dash. got r done

looks great too

That is like saying the KDP isn't a problem (Cummins' stance) and 5th gear coming off is an isolated problem (Dodge's stance). Take a look at the signatures, not just Texans have the problem. It's not that yours hasn't cracked yet, it's what to do when it does.
