Dash replacement while replacing a/c evaporator

In the near futre I am going to be replacing my a/c evaporator core which began leaking this summer. I also have a large crack in my dash right in front of the driver's seat which is driving me nuts. Knowing what is involved in replacing the evaporator, is there a whole lot more involoved in replacing the dash? Anyone know the procedure?

Also, has anyone priced the dash replacement? I really don't want to do an overlay type thing, I hate those. I either want to replace it or just live with the crack.

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest taking your truck to a dealer and tell them you've heard they have had a problem with the dashes, and see if they will cover it under warranty. Most of them are not covering it 100% but are paying for the part if you pay the labor. We've even had the customer get the part and bring us back the old part. As far as the price I thing the dash is about $500.00, and you have to just about remove the the dash to do the evaporator. Good luck.
