Cruise speeds up??

Hey all. I bought my 99 a couple weeks ago and I am ready to go on a long trip next monday and I discovered that the cruise speeds up when set. It does it every time that I have tried to set it. Anyway I searched and found the vacuum leak thing to check but does anyone else have anything else I need to look for. Thanks! Blair

You mean you hit the button and it speeds up 2-3 mph, and stays there, or constantly increases your speed after being set?

jfpointer, this TSB covers the '89 through '96 trucks. Are you aware if it also covers the '99s? I'll still try it, but am curious if it worked for 2nd gen trucks.

When I press my CC "set" button, I've had times when it will start increasing speed without topping out -- after surging up 15 mph, I had to manually shut off the CC or hit the brake to get control of my speed (it was still climbing). I realize the CC will cause a 1-2 mph increase before settling down -- 15+ mph is not acceptable! Is this one of the symptoms of the acid-hole-in-the-hose problem?

Thanks, Franklin

I'm pretty sure it covers later than '96 trucks. I've noticed that they don't necessarily update or re-release TSB's unless they have new info on the problem.

What you're describing really sounds like the hole in the hose problem, though, if it just keeps climbing like that.
