Cruise control...

switch high voltage (0577). That is what my '02 w/ 5 speed indicates is the cause of my cruise control not activating. For the past year or so it was intermitent and all I had to do was continually tap the 'on' part of the switch. Not long ago it would just go off while driving but it would come back on if I kept pressing the 'on' part of the switch. Now it does not work. I did some searching on here but what I could find delt with automatics. I bought a new switch today but it did not fix the problem.

Also, when it was new it did the same thing. Dealer said the wire was a little to short which caused it to come unattached but they made the wire a little longer and said it was good to go. Would a loose wire cause this code? It would have to be somewhere down the steering column or on the route to the ecm as everything looked fine at the switch.

Any suggestions.

If one wire came loose from being too tight I can guarantee there were more just waiting to come loose that they didn't lengthen.
It's a common problem.
