Wish my 53 block had lasted as long as the junk dash! Around 130k.

Been there, done that. Didn't work. Just about the same spot too. Never heard of it done on F-15s but it's done with cast iron. Hmmmm, 53 block??? Nahhh!

How bad is installing a replacement dash top?

Ended up buying the dash cover from Geno's for $52.00. Ulti-Mat I think. It fits really well.

2002, 145k. Pretty sad when the original batteries outlast the dash...

you can stop drill them, worked on mine- same thing aircraft mechanics do when they spot cracks in Wings. Just drill a small hole right at the end of the crack, it stops it from traveling any further. works great. 3/32 is the bit I used.

I Wonder if removing the dash mount bolts and putting O-rings on them to reduce vibration would help stop future cracks?

Been there done that. Didn't work. Maybe try filling drill hole with an epoxy???

I bought my truck in Feb of 2000 and put a 3x5 American Flag folded length wise over the dash. (I'm very Patriotic) Never cracked until about three years ago after I removed the Flag because it had faded.

My 2001-1500 made it to about 103,000. Just small cracks now but I'm sure it won't be long before I can't stand it and replace.
