Coil Springs too stiff???

Help me if you can. I just had Coil Spring Specialties make me a set of front coils for my '99 4X4. They kept questioning me about my weight and what I had on it. I wanted a 2" lift and a little more weight. My truck weights 8800# wet. So I knew this was some over the standard weight. Well they sent me a set with 2" lift and 700# extra. They are huge. Look like the coils are at least 1" in dia. Will they work or are they to stiff. Oh most of my extra weight is on the rear axle. It is getting 2 extra leafs also.

I am not a spring expert, but my immediate thought would be that the steel in them may be softer/have more flex at a given thickness, a different alloy.

How long did it take you to get them...I've been waiting on mine for about a month, and they're still 2-3weeks out.

Only one way to find out how they ride I don't think they'll be as bad as you think!

A longer spring is normally softer. Think of it as straight piece of wire. The longer it is the easier it is to bend.

To make it stiffer they go up on the wire diameter.

If you were to take to springs, one 10" long and the other 16" long.
Both of them the same size wire, and coil spacing. The 16" spring would be quite a bit lower spring rate than the 10" spring.

I beleive once you try you're new springs, you will find they just LOOK way to heavy.

Thanks for the input. Sorry I've been gone for 10 days hunting. It took 3 wks to get them. Will have the rear 5100's in here by next wed. I'm going to make an appointment for spring place in OKC. to get it all put on with 2 extra leafs in the rear and 5100 all around. I hope you guys are right about the stiffness. But 700 extra pounds on the front seams like a lot. Will get some pictures before and after on here as soon as I'm done. Also measurements on height change. thanks Lynn

Mine showed up the other day...they were 3" taller than stock springs...and 2.5" taller than the D25's I had laying next to them!

I haven't really drove the truck much, but I'll get a writeup on the whole install soon
