Codes thrown

Ok, I did the key trick today just to see what it would do and it threw these:
P1689- No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module
P1693- DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM.

I am still under the Cummins warranty so will it be taken care of under that of am I going to get screwed? I have done the key thing before and the others times it shows nothing, so this is definetly a first. Truck still drives fine, except for a sluggish start after it sits overnight. Only other thing is that my fuel level gauge is inaccurate. I wouldn't think it would be related.

Do a search on "1689" and you'll find a lot of info. Probably best to get it in for warranty work ASAP.

Where are you in Texas?

I have done some searches and all I have really been able to find out is that my computer is about to crash and so is my injector pump. I don't have gauges, so I am just going off of how well she is running. I still have power and I able to still get on it without anything happening. My warranty is with Cummins only. I am still on the 5 year/ 100,000 mile Cummins warranty. I have already expired the Daimler warranty. Will Cummins warranty a computer and injector pump? I know the injector pump should be ok.

I am around Dallas. Terrell, more specifically.

Unless you have some strange agreement with Cummins, you have no warranty from Cummins. The engine was sold to DaimlerChrysler without warranty. All warranties, including the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty are from DaimlerChysler, now just Chrysler.

Take a look here and find your Warranty Information booklet PDF.

The Cummins warranty covers the engine and related components only. Thomas is correct, you are not covered by Cummins in any way shape or form. The ecm is not covered by the engine warranty.

In my owners manual, I have a Dodge and a Cummins manual that came with the truck. In it, it says that the Cummins engine warranty takes over after the Daimler Chrysler warranty expires for an extra 5 years/100,000 miles and then it list everything it covers. Yes, I am sure that it does not cover the ECM, but it does list LP, IP, and so own with components on the engine. I have read it many times to make sure I didn't miss anything. It also says to take it to a dealer if anything happens.
