He said he was driving down the road and the truck made a loud pop and the truck runs real bad now. The codes are 299 and 483. He said he check all the boots and they are all still hook up and he said the truck just has no power.

 

Whats the info on your buddies truck?
483 is for the cooling fan clutch, probably not related unless it is running hot and the 299 is for Turbo boost under pressure. If his is an 05 he probably blew the intercooler if its still the plastic one. Need more info to know for sure though.
