Clearing codes

Anyway to clear the codes on my truck without
buying a $200.00 scan tool.

hmmmm, remove battery cables. Turn key to start position a couple times (to hopefully empty any capacitors) Leave cables off as long as possible (like overnight would be great, but I think 30 minutes will work)

Give that a try.

I believe it depends on whether it is a "hard" code or a "soft" code.

If you don't want to buy the scan tool you could find a local shop and pay them their fee to do it for you, or drive out here and I'll do it for you with my genisys scan tool. Might make a nice vacation for the family if you have one started. If not ther are a lot of mountain trails to explore out here.
