I just let the truck run for a couple of minutes, then shut it down, spritz it with Simple Green, wait 5 minutes, then hose it off (don't spray full force around the electrical components....ie No Power Washer)

I sometimes use a mix of 50/50 amonia/mr clean, or amonia / simple green, soak the engine and pour it on, wait 15 minutes, do it again, then gardent hose with nozzle, cover the electrics, let dry, use armoral on the rubber, soak everything, wipe off. if you have those really bad spots a pressure washer would work but put on one of those big tips so you don't blast the paint off, make a short pistol gun instead of the long one works good, just some thoughts for ya.

All you need is a car wash. All I do is use the presoak spray that they put on the cars in car wash and it cleans them like brand new. I bought a used 2004 crown vic with 245.000mls on it from a buddy who never cleaned it under the hood.I took it to the car wash when I bought it and did this.He said dam I should have sold you this car for more it looks like brand new.
