That is the Mopar accessories package, so it is direct from Dodge.

Uhh, Mopar is the OEM for our trucks.

Well...that's true. But I've seen countless "off-brands" that are based in Taiwan and other such places call their part an "OEM part" when it obviously really isn't. A couple years ago, somebody backed into my truck and broke one of the tail lights. Dealer wanted about $70 for a new one, but the junkyards in town had "brand new OEM tail lights in the box" for $35. Went and took a look at one and sure enough, it looked good to go. Got home and installed it and the **** thing didn't fit right. There was an ever so slight gap between the edge of the housing and the body of the truck, but it was enough to notice. It was just in how the thing was made. Took it back and all the others were like that too. So...needless to say, I wound up spending the extra $40 for the actual Mopar part.

So yeah, you're right. Mopar is the OEM. But my advice is just to be sure that it has Mopar printed all over the box and isn't some "off-brand".

I'll check those out, but I saw that they state that the lights that they are selling are "similar to OE" and that they are "thru the 2002 model year" . . maybe they think no-one wants the 2001-2002 redesigned lower profile ones ? And "similar to OE" would make one think that they are not factory Dodge parts. . . ?

The dealership looked up the number for the newer (03 and up) trucks, then we pulled the box, opened it up, and compared the lights to the factory clearance lights on a 2001 Ram 3500. Match!

Exclamation

I have posted a detailed page on the installation of the Mopar overhead clearance lights. I think it'll help some people. The page is located here:

http://www.phildorsett.com/clearancelights.html

The biggest thing I can say in this thread is that while the actual lights on the 82207252 kit are correct for late 2nd generation trucks, the drilling template is NOT. You must go by the holes that are already on the inside of the truck, not the template that is supplied. The template is for 3rd generation roofs only. This is detailed more on my page above.

Nice Job Phil ! Its great that someone would take the time and trouble to document the install. No doubt that will help a lot or people out (probably even me).
