You know i think it is the carwash soap heard some other folks complaining about it. tHANKS yall.
You let a car wash touch your precious truck

I had a bad, bad experience :'( :'( :'( with a supposedly brushless one once (with another owned vehicle) and I've never gone back to any of them. I don't even go to the local organizations car washes. You know, High School Cheer Leaders, Youth groups, Church groups going somewhere, Band Trips, etc, car wash. When I see a group I'd support, I drive through and donate some bucks for the cause, give 'em a wave and see the relief in their faces for not having to wash this big ol' truck . Maybe I'm just paranoid but I had '97 Ram, 1500, chestnut brown in color, paint would scratch to the undercoat with just a mean glance. Wouldn't dare let Top near it, would be stripped to the metal.

~Dave
(Shuts down the Gas powered buffer with graphite impregnated buffing cloth) What did he say? ???

You know, this makes me wonder...what in the world possessed the first guy to try this?? I can't help but think of the old Reece Cup commercials. You know, the "you dropped your chocolate in my peanut butter" concept. I can picture a guy standing in front of his truck eating a PB&J wondering "what in the world could I use to get that white crap off my bumper?" When suddenly a dollup of peanut butter falls onto the bumper. He whipes it off with a cloth and....it hit him, "PEANUT BUTTER! THAT THE TICKET!"

Re:Chalky residue.....

I have a VW Jetta that had black plastic trim that looked awful. I tried all the polymer coatings like Armor All and the like. They looked good for about 3 days or until it rained. I gave up and got some Rustoleum Satin Black paint. I masked all the trim and sprayed it (after cleaning it with naptha). It's been 11 years and it still looks good. Kinda extreme, but it worked.

I have to admit I'm a sucker for the local college cheerleader's car washes, I'm still young enough to enjoy that sort of thing. If they cause my bumper cover to fade, I'll stop by the grocery store on the way home ;D.
