First time posting and a new member here, love the site. Need to put CB in my 94' 3/4 ton 5spd, wanted to mount it to the ceiling like in my old chevy, but I have that stupid console thing up there and on dash in front of shifter is in the way....any ideas? Where did you guys mount yours??

Thanks
Tom

That mount is no longer produced by Mike Brolin. Rip Rook bought the rights to it and is now producing it with Bob Wagner...

Re:CB

I can't really remember what the dash of my 94 looked like other than the drink catapult but this is what I did on my 2001.

Re:CB

And one more

I had to make a custom mount but was able to use exsisting holes. I still need to finish it by putting some black rubber door edge guard around the edges. It took me about 4 hours of fitting, grinding, fitting, grinding, etc to get it where it is now but I am pretty happy with the outcome. I thought about one of the brolin mounts but I didn't like the look of the radio in front of the seat because it sticks up too high, the radion is rather large because it started out life as a hamm radio, but as with most things it has been bombed.

I am quite certain that I would not cut a hole in my dash . I gotta say that one is what I would call an extreme mod.

Re:CB

Here's how I did mine.
When I got the CB, the Brolin mounts were in limbo, no one had taken over production of them yet, so I just made up my own.

Chunk of wood cut to width of center seat.
Covered in almost matching gray vinyl.
Two other chunks of wood wedged under center seat and
attached to first piece to keep if from moving around.
Only problem is you lose seating in the center, for your honey, or kids that want to sit next to Dad.

One of these day I'm going to remove the drink holder (fold down auto tranny type, it's not big enough to hold anything substantial) and mount CB in empty space created by missing drink holder and get a CB sized police scanner to mount in there as well (to get rid of handheld seen sitting in drink holder in pic)

The idea is that the piece I cut is easily replacable, and other than the junk collector pocket that I cut, nothing was altered. No new screw holes, no ducting cut. I don't even like aftermarket radios because I like things to look like they did from the factory but I had very few options for mounting the CB. This option left is very simple to go back to stock configuration. The reason I didn't use a brolin was because of the size of the radio and how far it stuck up past the seat.

At the bottom of the URL I posted, there are links to Bob and Rip. I chose that one because of the pics.
