A/C compressor cycles?

My A/C compressor cycles on and off even when the air conditioner is not on. I know on most vehicle the A/C cycles with the defrost on to circulate the oil in the compressor but why when just the vent is on. Or is this just a problem with mine. And no the A/C does not blow cold air right now, but the compressor is cycling on and off. although I don't think as long as it should to produce cool air, it only runs for about 2 seconds on and 15 seconds off.

just recharge it.

If you can find someone with the gauges, it's 2 bottles at 12$ each.

mine has a slow leak, so I've resorted to just spending $25 each spring to recharge it.

if you have the **** pointed at face and feet the compressor will constantly cycle. Switch it to either face or feet and it will stop.

It's supposedly for dehumidified heating so the windows don't fog so readily..

(secretly, I believe that DC did it that way so the A/C compressor will be running as soon as you start the engine, thereby making the air so much colder so you will appreciate the meager heater they put in our trucks. )

I like 67HOTROD's solution!
