Buttons window/unlock/lock
I can not unlock my truck from the driver side unlock button, if you push it it will only lock. WIndow work fine. I have gone to the junk yard and pulled several (4) and all of them do the same thing. Any ideas. Thanks

Alright i am a wiring retard so help me a little here. Follow the wires from the plug into the switch to were ever they go?
Also the other switch on Passanger side works fine.

The wires commonly break in the harness going through the door & jam , then the ground can get rusty , so lose connection .
If you start at the solenoid for lock , check for power & ground , the positive makes the lock go both ways , its just that the sw moves the pos chamge wires , DC electrical means one wire is + pos , and one is - neg , but the device requires the change in polarity to go in either direction , lets say pos makes it move in one direction - lock , in order for it to go the other way - unlock , the motor needs to have the pos & neg on the other wire , the sw does this , so a wire that was pos in one direction is going to be neg in the other direction , so with a multi meter , you will have to reverse the test leads ,
Start at the solenoid , hock meter [ or test lite ] move the sw in one direction , one wire will be + , the other will be neg , then move the sw in the other direction and the wire that used to be pos will now b neg , and the same with the other , used to be neg , now should be pos .
one of those wires [ at solenoid ] is not going to have pos or neg at some point , if the two wires do have the right pos / neg at the right times , then it may be the solenoid , but then also what happens is that sometimes the linkage gets rusty , even though all the electrical is good , so make sure , by disconnecting the linkage that the solenoid moves in both directions , and that the linkage is free to move in both directions .

The wires from the passenger side actually go into the switch in the driver's side.
Try to get one at junkyard and try. I had same problem with my '99 (switch block actually caught on fire) and I fixed it this way.

I may be confused Valv but your talking about the switch in the door panal. That one i have tried four of at the junk yard.
John thanks i am going to go try to run through your instruction in the next couple of days when i get a chance. Or i might have the girlfriends father who is a electrical genius take a look at it, with your advice in hand.
My key fob works the doors and my passanger side door switch works the lock unlock. THe only part of any of the system that is broken is the unlock lock part of drivers side.
THanks

Doorlocks on higher optioned trucks used a one wire multiplexed system. I am not sure what year this started, or what trim levels use it, but I am quite certain your laramie will. When the ECM sees a change in the voltage on this wire, it will trip either the lock or unlock relay. Different resistances to ground cause this voltage change. The problem you are having could be caused by many things, but I would start by checking for bad grounds, bared off wires, corrosion in plugs, etc. I think the doorlock wire is white/dk green, and that the doors are grounded somewhere in the kickpanel, but am not 100% sure.
I have a problem with my truck that started the same way, but now the doors unlock themselves randomly, mostly just when the truck is being driven. I think it will be a wire rubbing on something. Any other ideas? I will be tearing it apart when I get home tomorrow.

do you know where the relay's for the locks are?mine sound's like it keep's trying to un-lock itself.i can hear a clicking in a little black box under the dash too.the only way mine will stop is with the fuse out,but with the fuse out the lift pump and other thing's don't work.this problem just started yesterday
IMO, the first thing to check would be the switch itself, with a new one or else by taking the old one apart and looking at the contacts. Mine had the same problem, and I fixed it by taking the switch apart, cleaning the contacts, and bending the conact arms slightly.
