Belt Chirp returned! With Gatorback

Put a new Gatorback belt on about a year ago, no more chirp on shutdown. Now it's back with every shut down. Any other tricks to stop it or is this just the way it is?

Thanks

I put a Gates heavy duty on mine about 6 months ago and the chirp went away. I was also surprised that the chirp was related to the belt. Never have changed my belt tensioner. Only changed water pump.

Mine didn't chirp for about a year and then started again. I really don't care. I think once the belt is worn in it may glaze a little and lose some grab, but as long as there aren't any cracks running along it I don't worry about it.

I keep a spare under the back seat with a yardsale 1/2" drive socket wrench for when it never happens to fail cause I am ready for it!!

Yeah I changed the tensioner with the belt. I was eating up belts like crazy, turned out to be a 7 rib pulley on my new alternator. I changed it to an 8 rib pulley and no more belt eating.

As far as the chirp, no big deal. I also keep my older belt under the seat with a 1/2 " breaker bar.

Thanks for the replies.

I miss my chirp so bad! I put on a Dayco last summer and my chirp disappeared and was immediately replaced by an VERY annoying , non stop squeal when she is working hard, maybe a bit warmer than normal, pulling our RV or what have you. I am pulling the Dayco out right away and will replace it with a Gator. I actually hope my chirp come back!

Cheers!

Mike
