battery help

i have two brand new batteries that came off of a camper trailer i bought. they are not deep cycle so i pulled them off. they were dead so i carried them to walmart, and the gave me two new ones. the new ones are the # maxx-24s, they have 875 cranking amps and 700 cold cranking amps. the batteries on my truck are a little weak so i am thinking of putting these on it, since i have no other use for them. according to Walmart my truck calls for a bigger battery in dimensional size but lower in cranking amps (i believe its a maxx-27). so would these be ok on my truck? i think they would be, but a mechanic at work told me if you dont have the right battery you could mess up your starter, alternator, and a few other electrical things. so what do you think, are they ok or not. usually i would just throw them on there and be done, but im kinda curious to see.
Thanks for your input.
Joe

If they fit you'll be ok. Biggest issue is going to be whether or not the posts are in the right spot. Other than that it's possible the reserve capacity of the batteries are less, but that isn't a huge problem unless you start draining them somehow.

As another said, If they fit and posts are in correct position for cables to connect, you will be fine. Since you are in Texas (not Alaska) the weather is not so extreme to require a greater output. Could you go back and trade so have two identical batteries. (it didn't fit should do it) Good deal.

That mechanic needs some help. Oops. Inside thoughts...

As others have said, if they fit and the posts are in the right place, go for it.

Good thing they went in ok.
I'm late to warn you that when installing a smaller battery to watch out for the hold down bolts going down further than with a bigger battery and penetrating the wiring harnesses under the driver's side battery.
Can cause all kinds of problems...

thanks for the info. i finnally switched them out at walmart and got the MAXX-27's, little longer battery and more cold cranking amps for the same price. i figured i might as well get a battery that takes up the whole battery box! everything worked fine and it cranks good. usually i would get a high end battery and know it will work, but i didnt want to waste these since they were basically free!
Thanks for everyones help!
