any ideas?

i just went to the dodge, its my price or else, dealer again and tried to buy some retainers for the inner plastic fenders on my 97 and found out that they wanted 5.50 a PIECE for them and you need ten. well i dont mind paying a reasonable price for something but that to me is totaly ridiculous for plastic push pins. has anyone found another way to install these inner fenders beside those plastic pins,by the way being down here in lousiana and on the coast after taking these off i will be taking them off more often to check for rust and dirt being deposited since i found rust under them when i took them off to change my ball joints. thanks in advance if anyone can help

When I bought my truck new the first time I took it down a gravel road quickly it destroyed the rear wheel bins. I took it back to the dealer and they gave me new ones under warranty. I told them I wanted to bolt 1/4 inch rubber belting to the inside of the bin before they were installed so I would install them. They gave me the bins and also the plastic inserts. When it came time to install them I just couldn't use the cheap plastic one time inserts so I used 3/8 head sheet metal screws in case I ever wanted to take them off for servicing. (sheet metal roofing screws would also work). Anyway 7 years later and they are still in place and the belting is like new.

thanks everyone, it is sad that a good truck and greater motor has to be let down by local dealerships that dont give a **** about customers or their needs.

Try Fastenal for this kind of stuff. They make it and sell it to the dealers.

Yea, I always thought it was ignorant to use a single use plastic rivet, but it became painfully clear to me when I priced them at the dealer.

Napa had the same single use plastic rivets by the bag....... I should offer to supply them to the Dealer!
