Re:Aluminium Wheels
I already try the spacer that they put on the rear and it is not enought and if I go any thiker than this I won t be using the hub as a support .

Corect me if I am wrong.

Buzzman
Re:Aluminium Wheels
Buzz,

Been there done that. All you need to do, (this is gonna suck with tires on the rims), is put the front end on jack stands, pull the wheels and then turn the wheels from lock to lock, take note of where rubbing, then "grind it till ya find it". Took me about 30 mins a side, after the gross material removal off the steering knuckle.I still get a little rubbing at full lock both ways, but I just try to make a conscience effort to not lock the steering out.

It can be done, I did it 8)
Re:Aluminium Wheels
I did it work just fine I grind the knoukle and for the rubbing at full lock I add to grind a little bit of material of the tie rod end now no more rubbing and the truck look great.

Thanks

Buzzman
Re:Aluminium Wheels
To slip a little off topic, but still regarding aluminum wheels. Is there a listing or what is the backset of each years wheels. I have an 02 and have been told that the backspacing is 6.25, yet most (all I've found so far)aftermarket wheels are either 4.5 or 4.65. I was also told that wheels from an 02 2 wheel drive will fit my 4 wheels drive, they are the same wheels. True?

Thanks
Re:Aluminium Wheels
What year did Dodge make a different backspacing for the wheels and why? I like the wheels like the ones found on the '02's compared to the earlier wheels. I've always been curious about this.

Homestead & turbodiesel_ram try this link for backspacing info:

http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/wheel/specs.htm

Good luck.

Hey Buzzman,
Did you have the factory chrome steel directional wheels on your truck originally? The reason I'm asking, is I'm curious if I can use the lugnuts from my steel directionals on the factory forged aluminum wheels? If anyone knows, please let me know.
Thanks,
Darrin

Now I'm having problems. I had the drums turned on the rear and all is well, but like Buzzman, the front rubs. Mine doesn't rub on the pitman arm or tie rod, but on the head of the bolt for the lower shock mount.
I ground the head of the bolt down quit a bit, until it didn't rub in the driveway. When I went for a test drive, it still rubbed. As anyone else had this problem? Buzzman, what size spacers did you try?
Thanks,
Darrin

hey, I got some 97 chrome factorys with 305r7516 discoverers with 1/4 tread I would trade you for just your stock uluminum rims, got a buddy with an 01 looking for a stock set of alum. for his truck! where you from?
doodah,
I already have a set of 98 chrome factory wheels. I went to the later model aluminiums because I like the looks better than the steel chrome ones. Thanks for the offer though.
