A friend was drving my truck today, using a spare set of keys without the fob.

He shut the truck off and locked it (drivers side) using the key. When he returned, he used the key to unlock the truck (drivers side), which set off the alarm (horn). He got in and inserted the key in the ignition (trying to stop the alarm) and tried to start the truck. It did not start nor did the alarm stop. Next he unhooked the batteries for about 10 minutes. When he reconnected the batteries the alarm started again.

Finally using the key he locked the drivers side door and unlocked it again. This time the alarm stopped, the truck started and ran without further problems.

Does this sound like a switch problem or a computer problem or?
Any ideas of the cause?
Is there a way to disable the alarm system?

Unlock it from the other side, should shutoff alarm. If this works then it is the rod from the lock that is bent.
