I have an 01 Dodge 2500, and I am not getting much air flow out of the AC system.
My mechanic said that it was probably clogged up, but, there was no way to get to the air box to clear it out.

Is this the case? If not, I would appreciate your insite on how to get it fixed. Hot and Dry down here in Texas! Thanks.

 

The first thing the air passes through after leaving the fan squirrel cage is the evaporator so if it is clogged and dirty it's the evaporator. I would first remove the fan and rotate it if it's not free then that is probably your problem. They are known to tighten up but the first thing that goes is the resistor block for the fan speeds because there is not enough air flow the keep them cool. There are evaporator cleaners on the market that you can use through the fan opening. Some heater plenums also had a mesh screen partly around the fan cage, my 2001 didn't but when I bought my new evaporator core it came with one, I just didn't use it. Don't try and BLOW it clean that will just force the debris further into the core.

 

check the fuse

sounds funny, but I had that issue with mine. stupid fuse was good but the contacts fried a bit inside the fuse box so I'd plug in a new fuse but my ac still wouldn't blow

finally a strong light and pick got it dealt with

was annoying though, it'd cut on and off going down the road
