AC evaporator, which part?

I put some dye in my refrigerant and its showing up at the condensate drain at the firewall, just below the accumulator. Im assuming this points to the evap or something else inside the dash =(. If I take that apart Id want to replace the evap, the heater core and the orifice since those are common things that go.
I looked around online and it appears theres 2 different evaporator cores offered for this truck and I cant tell which one is the right one.

AC Delco 1562144 or AC Delco 1562167 is what Im trying to figure out.
The other thing is Id like to replace the orifice which is in that area also. I read here someplace that the orifice was bundled along with the liquid line so you had to buy the whole part, but this site also has a link to the orifice (???)

Im debating having a shop do all this stuff since its been so hot out. What do you folks think? Is this a DIY for a driveway mechanic?

I took my truck to get the air conditioning looked at cause it was blowing hot air. They put a dye in the system and said that they looked the system over and said thet they could not find any trace of the dye. They came to the conclusion that it must be the evaporator that is leaking cause that is behind the dash and are unable to see it. Their shop is unable to install a new evaporator so they sent me to another shop and they said that they have a way to check the evaporator with out taking the dash all apart. He said that if it was the evaporator that is bad, it is bad cause there is acid in the system so that would have to be flushed out. To do the whole job it would cost $1250 plus tax. I am trying to convince myself to let them do it. I do not have time to do it myself and these guys are the experts(i hope) so i will probably let them do it. I could almost suffer with the heat then shell out 1250 dollars to get it fixed but dont want to listen to the wife and kids complain about it when we take weekend camping trips.

yeah this job is a lot of labor and Id do it myself but Ive never done this before. I suppose if I get in over my head I can tow it to the shop with the dash apart or something.
Supposedly the evaporator will leak refrigerant if its bad, along with the dye. That lands in the drip pan along with condensate thats under the thing and it flows out via a drain tube or hose to underneath the truck. Im not sure where. Originally I thought it was the nipple right under the accumulator, but that seems kind of high up on the firewall to be good for a drain.
I need to figure out of the leaked dye has really come from the drain, or spatter from refrigerant leaking out of the accululator fittings (maybe the lines are slightly crooked?). I bumped into the line working on the filter and I heard the hiss of gas escaping which makes me thing its not properly sealed?
As for acid being in the system, Id have guessed that condensate corrodes the evaporator after while and made it leak.
