A buddy of mine just bought a 96 1 ton dually extended cab 4x4 five speed for 9700 bucks. I told him he got a good deal. was I right? Oh by the way it has 120,000 miles on it. I wish I had the extra money laying around for it.

I would say he got a good deal if everything check out ok. If it has never been tampered with then he's very lucky. What plans does he have for the truck?

the truck has never been messed with. It belonged to a guy I worked with who just drove it back and forth to work. He will be working it on the farm. Hauling hay, cows and stuff. He said it is staying stock.

If he loads it down while stock he will hate himself, 4th does nothing. Talk him out of doing that. I see a 10 plate and governor spring kit in the near future ..

I am sure I will be asking all you 12 valve guys questions. I know very little about them. His brother and I both have 24 valves.

Exactly. I am sure it will be a lot of fun actually turning wrenches to make power instead of plugging in some wires. I hope he decides to change his mind soon so I can see what a 12 valve will really do.
