2nd Gen Suspension Opinions Wanted--Want Softer Ride

I recently purchased a VERY clean 1994 2500 4x4 Regular Cab Long Box with the 5 speed and am looking to improve my ride quality.

I dont want a ton of lift but I would like the truck to ride smooth on the road and still be capable off road. I am in some pretty rough country from time to time when I am guiding hunts.

I dont mind dropping some coin for a suspension system that is smooth riding and capable off road. I have done a search for Carli, Thuren and Kore but most of the threads deal with 3rd Gen trucks. I like my 12 valve and am getting terrific mileage. The fact that its fairly bulletproof and simple to work on is the reason I bought it so I will drive this truck till the wheels fall off it.

Anybody with a 2nd Generation truck with any knowledge(and hopefully pics) please chime in. I will definately go with a suspension upgrade soon and would love some feedback. My truck is stock right now but I will go with a front end replacement bumper in the future and will put a 110 gallon transfer tank in the bed so I can haul American diesel with me to Sonora Mexico when I am down there hunting. I dont know if that added weight will matter when you offer suggestions but I thought I would mention it

I run the SJ system in my sig w/Bilstein shocks. I was very hesitant in buying the truck because of the lift and "potential" rough ride. When test driving, I literally tried to find something wrong w/the truck and I thought it drove great. Since then, I've installed the Bilsteins and BFG A/T tires and the ride is great. In comparison, I too have the full RH replacement bumper and a 70gal xfer tank for fuel. When full of fuel the rear does squat a little but overall, the ride is great for a tank going down the hwy. I would also recommend a steering brace as it makes it that much more of a pleasant drive.

try looking at Kelderman air ride it might be something along what your looking for . I have it on one of mine and it makes the truck ride like a 1/2 ton
but I still have the load cap.

here is what i did.... you get no axle rap/hop, and full range of adjustment from lower than stock to a 12" lift, carry any amount of weight you want with out squating, and still moves great for off road, but if i did it again i would go with a "bellows" style bag for an even softer ride.

I installed the carli starter system, by FAR the best thing I have done to my truck, mine went from riding a buckboard to a bump eating machine, yet you can lay on the throttle when in an off ramp and the truck sticks and remains level (no body roll!!) took an off ramp the other day with a chev on my tail I pulled away in the turn and he near lost control from body roll! I cannot believe than a 6000lb truck can handle and ride this good.

again search the net Carli rules!

The cheapest way that I have found is to drive an older Ford 3/4 ton, then yours will feel like a Cadillac.
